When your prayers go unanswered.... I've struggled multiple times in life wondering why...why God wont answer my prayers. I've questioned, do my prayers line up with biblical truth..check...they are about more than self...check. But still no matter how many tears, how loud, or how soft I prayed it still hasn't come to pass. When you pray for years and years begging, pleading with God there are moments where you question your own relationship with God. In my experience people that once were standing with me begin to wonder....does she have hidden sin in her life...why isn't God answering her prayers? When people begin to question your heart and mind, it can be a gut check to make sure you are aligned, or you have the choice to get offended. The bible says its not good for men to be alone. We NEED fellowship. We NEED a support system and we need each other. What do you do though when you are alone in your valley? Its really hard in this life not to compare. We always hear comparison is the thief of joy, and it is, but how do you not compare? Everything in our lives is comparing. Grocery shopping we compare apples and oranges. Friends, without even thinking compare situations, moms, dads, co workers. We all constantly compare things without even realizing we are doing it. Through the years Ive fought feeling so less than others because Ive walked some of the hardest seasons alone while others had a line of support to help them so they didnt get tired and distraught. When they were depressed they had encouragement and strength from those around them. They had people at their call when they needed help and it wasnt seen as bad. People Are like Plants
Plants are like humans This morning I was staring at my plants sitting on the window pane, taking in the sunlight as it beamed through the window. I saw my rosemary plant standing strong with no help at all. Then, my eyes darted to my Basil. This basil needed some assist a few weeks ago. It was growing tall, but then started to lean. I decided before it was going to fall completely to get some skewer sticks to assist the basil in staying upright. Before I placed the stakes into the soil I “pruned” and spoke life to my plant. I know it sounds silly, but there is something about speaking out loud what you are believing for that allows dead things to come back to life. Pruning the plant takes some time. Time is taken to pull out the tiny bits of dried dead leaves or stems and sometimes, pushing the roots down deeper or adding a little more soil and water to the roots so they may be firmly placed. I cant believe it is 2017! 2017 is my year for hope, healing, and Soaring! Every year I pray and seek God for a word and verse for the next year. Every year it's amazing to see how the context of those verses become such a deeper revelation to my soul. There are many things on my heart right now that I am believing for, but when I was praying this verse really made me light up. God is the only one who can renew my strength and I will hold onto HOPE , HEALING, and SOAR with the eagles in 2017! Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) but those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will RUN and not grow weary, they will WALK and not be faint.
